Illinois came to a soft spot in their schedule this past week, with home games against Minnesota and Purude. The Illini took advantage, rolling to a pair of double-digt victories, extended their home winning streak to 33 games, and ran their conference record to 5-2. When Wisconsin fell in Ann Arbor, it meant Illinois (along with Michigan and Iowa) joined the Badgers atop the league standings.
A week and a half ago, Illinois had taken a setback with its loss at Indiana. But the defending league champs are showing an ability to quietly thunder forward, winning the games they should win. And as a result, they're back in first place.
