With the NCAA Tournament wrapped up and the last coaching vacancies filled, Big Ten Country will be shifting its focus over the coming four months. The site's side columns will have additions and remodelings done to them, to add more historical information on each school as well as both college football & basketball as a whole. More links will hopefully be a part of this process as well.
So keep checking back. I'll be taking a break from regular blog posting until it's time to start football previews again at the start of August, but new material will still be added to the site. In the meantime, if you're a baseball fan, my regular blog posts can be found over at A.L. Baseball.
It was another fun year for Big Ten athletics. We saw arguably the biggest football game in the history of the conference when Michigan and Ohio State battled in November. And on the hardwood, Columbus hosted another big battle for the league title--OSU's game against Wisconsin saw both teams ranked #1 simultaneously. We saw some inspiring stories, like Terry Hoeppner fighting his way back from a brain tumor to nearly get Indiana to a bowl game and Matt Painter bringing Purdue back to the NCAA Tournament. And we saw Minnesota become the centerpiece for coaching craziness, as the Gophers succumbed to it in football, but benefited from the same phenomena in basketball.
This is the spot where I wish we had the technological capacity to let you hit the "Play" button and have "One Shining Moment" come out, as all the highlights of the past Big Ten football & basketball season played out. That will have to wait for a future year. But for now, everybody have a great spring and summer, and we'll see you again in August!
